26 arrested during crackdown against middlemen in hospitals, RTOs

Bhubaneswar: Police today arrested 26 middlemen from different hospitals and offices of Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) following raids. A total of 18 middlemen were held from RTOs whereas eight persons were apprehended by police from hospitals during a crackdown against touts and agents.

In Bhubaneswar, eight brokers were held from Bhubaneswar RTO office. Similarly, three middlemen were arrested from Deogarh followed by two from Cuttack and one from Rourkela hospital.

Two agents each from hospitals in Sonepur and Kendrapara were nabbed whereas one each from Jajpur, Puri and Nayagarh districts were arrested. In Gajapati, one agent was arrested from the district headquarter hospital and two were arrested from the RTO.

Last week Chief Minister Naveen had asked Collectors, SP and Regional Transport Officers to ensure that RTOs and hospitals remain broker-free. Yesterday 16 brokers were held from hospitals and RTOs.
