27 places in Odisha record day temperatures above 40 Degrees Celsius; Angul hottest with 44.3

Bhubaneswar: With mercury on the rise at several places in Odisha and as heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail over several districts of the State till May 2, at least twenty-seven places witnessed day temperatures above 40 Degrees Celsius, today.

Angul town recorded the highest maximum (day) temperature at 44.3 Degrees Celsius. It was followed by Boudh (44.1), Baripada (44.0), Cuttack, and Nayagarh each (43.7), Dhenkanal (43.6), Malkangiri, Talcher, and Titilagarh each (43.5), Bolangir (43.3), Bhubaneswar (43.2), Bhawanipatna (43.0), Paralakhemundi (42.8), Keonjhar (42.7), Jajpur (42.5), Kendrapara (42.4), Chandbali (42.2), Bhadrak, and Jagatsinghpur each (42.0), Khordha (41.5), Balasore (41.4), Sonepur (41.3), Nuapada, and Phulbani each (41.2), Chhatrapur (40.8), Rourkela (40.6) and Rayagada (40.4).

Temperature forecast: Maximum (day) temperature is likely to further rise by 2°C during next 24 hours and no large change thereafter at a few places over the district of Odisha.

People are to take precautionary measures while going outside during the day hours between 1100 Hrs IST and 1500 Hrs IST, a special bulletin of the IMD regional centre advised.
