275 candidates file nominations for first phase of Odisha polls

Bhubaneswar: As many as 275 candidates have so far filed their nominations for the first phase of polling for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha.

Of these, 245 nominees filed nominations for Assembly polls while 30 candidates filed their papers for Lok Sabha polls.

In the first phase, the elections will be held for 4 Lok Sabha and 28 Assembly seats on April 11 in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Ganjam districts.

Similarly, for the second phase of polls, a total of 107 candidates have so far filed their nominations for the forthcoming polls. As many as 96 candidates filed nominations for Assembly polls and 21 for Lok Sabha election.

As per the notification, five Lok Sabha seats and 35 Assembly seats will go under polls in the second phase on April 18. Polling will be held in Bargarh, Sundergarh, Balangir, Kandhamal and Aska Parliamentary constituencies in the second phase.

Odisha has 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly constituencies, which will face simultaneous polls in four phases from April 11.
