29 places in Odisha record day temperatures at 40 Degrees Celsius or above; Boudh, Baripada hottest with 45.2

Bhubaneswar: With mercury on the rise at many places in Odisha, at least twenty-nine places of the State witnessed day temperatures at 40 Degrees Celsius or above, today.

Boudh and Baripada towns recorded the highest maximum (day) temperature at 45.2 Degrees Celsius. It was followed by Nuapada (44.0), Talcher, and Bolangir each (43.6), Angul, Keonjhar, and Nayagarh each (43.5), Jharsuguda (43.2), Hirakud (43.1), Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Titilagarh each (43.0), Sonepur (42.7), Rourkela (42.6), Bhawanipatna, and Dhenkanal each (42.0), Chandbali, and Malkangiri each (41.6), Bhadrak, and Jajpur each (41.5), Paralakhemundi (41.4), Phulbani (41.3), Bargarh (40.8), Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Khordha each (40.5) and Balasore, and Kendrapara each (40.2).

Temperature forecast: No large change is likely in the maximum (day) temperature during the next 24 hours and a slight fall by 2°C to 3°C thereafter at many places over the district of Odisha.

Notably, Boudh yesterday recorded the highest maximum (day) temperature in India at 44.3°C.

People are to take precautionary measures while going outside during the day hours between 1100 Hrs IST and 1500 Hrs IST, a special bulletin of IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar advised.
