3 arrested from Uttar Pradesh for murder of milk trader in Odisha

Balasore/ Uttar Pradesh: A youth, along with two others has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh (UP), in connection with the alleged murder of Rakesh Choudhury, a milk trader of Baliapal area in Balasore.

The youth, identified as Anuj Kumar Choudhury alias Guddu, is the son of deceased Rakesh from his first wife. His accomplices, Praveen Agarwala alias Nilu of Rajhans Colony (UP) and Lokesh alias Bhaati of Shikarpur in Bulandshahr (UP), have also been apprehended by Uttar Pradesh police yesterday.

” A Maruti Swift car used for the murder has also been seized by the UP cops. Anuj has already been handed over to us. Baliapal police will soon bring Praveen and Lokesh on remand to Odisha. The seized murder weapon will also be handed over to us along with the two accused,” said Ranjit Prusty, Basta SDPO.

He went on to say that this murder is a result of family dispute. Rakesh had sold off all this property in Uttar Pradesh and come to Odisha in 2006. Even though he had a wife and two sons in his native place in Uttar Pradesh, he settled in Baliapal area of Odisha’s Balasore and remarried here.

Reportedly, he had Rs. 24 lakh in his bank account that his first wife and sons were allegedly threatening him for.

Worth mentioning, Rakesh was shot dead on the night of June 25 in Dangapita village under Baliapal police limits of Odisha’s Balasore. He was returning home after selling milk, when miscreants in a car opened fire at him. They shot three rounds of bullet to his head, murdering him on the spot.

His second wife Aarti Devi, alleging the involvement of the victim’s first wife and his sons, registered an FIR in Baliapal police station, upon which an investigation was launched into the case.
