3 children fall into molten tar container in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: In an unfortunate incident, three children fell into a molten tar container at Kankana village under Bamebari police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, today.

The three sustained critical injuries in the mishap and were hospitalised.

According to reports, the container was placed on roadside in the village as road construction work was underway in the locality.

The victims fell into the container when they were playing near it, this morning. While two of the children fell accidentally, the other child met the same fate as he tried to rescue them.

On being informed about the incident, villagers rushed to the spot and rescued the trio. It was a challenging task for the locals as the three were stuck in the container.

As the villagers brought the children out of the container, they removed the tar from the skin of the three by pouring kerosene. The victims were then taken to a local hospital for treatment.

On the other hand, the villagers alleged that the container was not covered by the concerned contractor, for which the mishap took place.
