3 cops injured, dread criminal arrested during encounter in Khordha

Khordha: Three police officials were injured after dreaded criminal Firoz Khan alias Bablu hurled bombs at them while trying to escape arrest at Rameswar Chhak on NH-16 under Nirakarpur police limits in Khordha district today.

However, the cops opened fire at Firoz, a resident of Khajuripada village, and arrested him later.

The injured cops-Nirakarpur police station IIC Saroj Upadhyay, ASI Sankarshan Aaicha and Constable Akshay Gumansingh- along with the criminal were later admitted to the Capital Hospital here for treatment.

Sources said several cases, including theft and dacoity have been pending against Firoz at various police stations in Khorda, Balugaon, Tangi, Nirakarpur and Jankia.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team laid by the Nirakarpur police station IIC raided a liquor shop, where he has hiding to escape police net. Seeing the cops, Firoz hurled a hand grenade at them, who later retaliated.
