3 critical as security guard’s gun fires ‘accidentally’ in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Rajgangpur: In a shocking incident, three persons suffered bullet injuries after a security guard’s gun reportedly fired accidentally at a weekly haat in Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district of Odisha here today.

The victims were identified as Muhammad Ilias (40) of Dilwar Ganj, Sita Lakra (30) of Jampali, Anuras Tanti (25) of Shanti Nagar. As per reports, the guard was on escort duty and had accompanied a a private bank’s cash management vehicle for loading of cash at the ATM. However, his gun went off accidentally when he was alighting from the van near the bank, injuring the three people who had come for he weekly haat being held in the vicinity.

The trio suffered critical injuries and were immediately rushed to the government hospital in Rourkela. Meanwhile, the SDPO and his team arrived at the spot and started investigation. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
