3-day shutdown to be imposed in this municipality, NAC of Odisha

Malkangiri: A 3-day shutdown will be imposed in Malkangiri municipality area and Balimela NAC of the district in view of the rise in local COVID-19 positive cases.

The restrictions will be imposed from 9 PM of July 30 to 11.59 PM of August 2, an official order of the District Collector said.

During the period, no public transport services including operation of taxis and auto-rickshaws will be permitted. The exception will include transport of all kinds to and from hospitals. All shops, commercial establishments, offices and factories, workshops, godowns etc. will remain closed.

However, essential services such as police, health, fire, electricity, water supply, banks/ATMs, media, telecom & internet, postal, e-commerce delivery of essential goods, food, groceries milk booths, fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, restaurant take away, petrol stations, LPG have been excluded from the ambit of the shutdown.

Malkangiri has so far registered over 440 COVID-19 cases and one death due to the disease.
