3 days after wife’s death, youth hangs self in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar: Three days after his wife’s death due to burn injuries, a 23-year-old youth allegedly died by suicide in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Nandlal Champia of Zeropoint area under Tensa police outpost limits.

Nandlal’s wife Jinesh Kandulana (19) had sustained severe burn injuries in a fire mishap in their house on January 26. She succumbed to her injuries while being treated in a hospital in Rourkela on March 20.

His wife’s death reportedly pushed Nandlal into depression as they had been blessed with a baby girl just three months ago.

Nandlal allegedly ended his life by hanging himself from a mango tree in the locality today.

On being informed, Tensa police outpost in-charge Sudarshan Dehury along with other policemen reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem after registering a case of unnatural death.

The orphaned baby girl has been handed over to her grandparents.
