Bhanjanagar/Jaleswar: At least three persons were killed and four others sustained grievous injuries as the vehicles in which they were travelling met with accidents in Ganjam and Balasore districts, today.
Identities of the deceased and injured persons have not been ascertained yet.
The first incident was reported from Bhanjanagar. Two were killed and two others injured after the car which they were on board overturned near Mujagarh locality in Ganjam district.
According to a source, four persons who happen to be friends were on their way from Phulbani when they met with an accident. The car turned turtle after the driver lost control leading to two deaths.
Some locals rescued the injured and rushed them to hospital for treatment in critical condition. Later, they were shifted to MKCG Hospital in Berhampur after their condition deteriorated.
In the second incident, a youth was killed and two others were severely injured as a motorcycle hit another motorcycle from behind at a place under Bhograi block on NH-57 in Balasore district.
The accident occurred when the motorcycles were overtaking, an eyewitness expressed.
The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared one of them 'dead'. Two others are undergoing treatment in the government-run health facility and are not out of danger, a doctor treating them said.
Police have registered separate cases and launched probes into the fatal mishaps.
