3 dead, 6 injured after pickup van rams into truck in Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: Three people died and six others were injured after a pickup van rammed into a truck at Charinangal Chhak on NH-53 connecting Chandikhole and Paradip.

According to reports, the dry fish-laden pickup van was moving towards Paradip from Chandikhole in the morning. It rammed into a truck from behind near Charinangal under Balichandrapur police limits in Jajpur district following which one person sitting on the container of the pickup van died on the spot. Eight others sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

On receiving information, Chandikhol fire services personnel rescued the injured persons from the vehicle and admitted them to the Barchana Community Health Centre for treatment. Later, the doctors referred the critically injured patients to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where two persons succumbed to injuries.

Source said that the mishap occurred due to poor visibility caused by dense fog in the morning.

The Balichandrapur police seized the pickup van.
