Dharmasala/Padmapur: At least three persons were killed today in separate incidents of road mishap in Bargarh and Jajpur districts.

In the first incident, a local college student identified as Rohit Majhi was hit by a pickup van (bearing registration number OD-17 P-9956) and he died on the spot. The deceased belonged to Chadha village of Dunguri panchayat under Jharabandha tehsil in Bargarh district.

According to a police source, Rohit was on his way from the college to his home by riding a motorcycle, when he met with accident. After filling fuel at a nearby petrol pump, the pickup van was approaching the road. Driver of the vehicle lost control of it and hit the college student.

Some other students of the college rushed Rohit to a hospital in Jharabandha where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.

In the second incident, two persons were killed on the spot as a truck rammed into them near Mulapal village on NH-16 under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district.

The duo was repairing a vehicle that had gone out of order and parked on the roadside. The truck hit them from behind leading to their untimely deaths. Identities of the two deceased have not been ascertained yet. They were mechanics of a garage, a source said.

On being informed by some locals, Kuakhia police reached the accident site, detained the truck driver and launched a probe, which is underway.
