3 more gates of Hirakud dam in Odisha closed, 35 open now

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8:

Authorities of the Hirakud Dam in Odisha closed three more sluice gates this afternoon leaving a total of 35 gates open at present for the release of flood water flowing in from Chhatisgarh.

Two gates were shut early in the morning today while ten gates were closed by Thursday night, authorities said.

50 gates were opened by the dam authorities on Thursday to discharge the heavy inflow into the dam.

The inflow into the dam has remained at 4, 40,000 cusec and current the outflow rate is 5, 90,000 cusec, the dam authorities informed.
