3 including father-son duo critical in firing incident in Athagarh, admitted to SCBMCH

Cuttack: A man, his son and their relative were critically injured today evening after a miscreant named Lituna Nayak opened fire at them near Majhisahi at Jenapada under Athagarh block in Cuttack.

The three injured persons were identified as Bansidhar Nayak, Dinabandhu Nayak and Jituna Nayak. The firing incident was a fallout of past enmity. About eight rounds of bullets were fired at the trio. Three bullets each were fired at Bansidhar and Dinabandhu and two bullets were fired at Jituna. The accused Lituna is retired military personnel, another relative named Ullas Nayak stated.

According to a senior official at Athagarh police station, the firing took place over a disputed patch of land. Some locals rescued the injured and rushed them to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack, where they are undergoing treatment.

On being informed, Athagarh police reached the crime spot and launched a probe.
