Sambalpur: In a tragic incident, a head-on collision between a car and a truck on NH-53 near Tangirapali under Dhanupali police limits in Odisha's Sambalpur district late last night claimed lives of at least three persons and left five others critically injured.
According to reports, some youths of Sahajbahal in Hirakud were returning home in a car after attending Laxmi Puja in Padiabahal.
At around 2 am, a speeding truck and the ill-fated car collided head-on killing three persons on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Satyabrata Nayak (27), Sanatan Mahanand (22) and Krusha Kanhar (19).
The injured ones have been admitted to VIMSAR in Burla.
