3 more farmers’ suicide reported from various parts of Odisha

The number of farmer suicide keeps on rising in the state, with three more reports from Cuttack, Subarnapur and Bargarh districts of Odisha.

A farmer, Pandit Samal of Junua village under Hindol block in Dhekanal had consumed poison two days back, allegedly due to crop loss and debt burden.

He was being treated at SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack but could not be saved and died today.

Meanwhile, a farmer Ashini Bhoi (35) belonging to Birmaharaj block of Gudguda village in Subarnapur district commited suicide after drinking poison due to crop loss and debt burden.

He had planted paddy in three acres of land, he had taken a loan of Rs 10,000 from micro finance and some money from money from private moneylenders.

While, Makhun Sahu (55), a native of Goisilat block Mundapali village had drunk poison due to crop failure and high debt.
