3 of family dead, 1 more critical as motorcycle collides head-on with private bus

Balangir/Deogaon: In a tragic road mishap, a man, his wife and daughter died and the young couple’s son sustained grievous injuries after the motorcycle on which they were travelling had a head-on collision with a private bus, today.

The incident was reported from near Singha Khaman Chhak located in between Deogaon and Balangir on NH-26 in this district. The man died on the spot and the woman and her daughter died in the hospital while undergoing treatment, a police source said.

The deceased man was identified as Saroj Kumar Pasayat, his wife as Karishma, daughter as Ramya. The critically injured 15-month-old son of the couple has been identified as Reyansh.

Saroj belonged to Odar village Titilagarh block in the district. He along with his family was on their way to Khujenpali village under Sadar police limits of Balangir district to attend a marriage function at his maternal uncle-in-law’s residence.

According to an eyewitness, the motorcyclist lost control over the ill-fated vehicle and hit the bus named ‘Ganapati’, which was going from Balangir town to Titilagarh leading to the deaths.

Some locals rescued the injured and rushed them to Bhim Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir for treatment. Later, they were shifted to VIMSAR in Burla after their conditions deteriorated.
