3 Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha to go on polls on Jun 11

The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced the date for holding elections to 57 seats in the Rajya Sabha from 15 states including Odisha.

Polls to these seats in the House of Elders of which three are from Odisha will be held on June 11, said a press note issued by the ECI.

Pyarimohan Mohapatra, Bhupinder Singh, and Baisnab Charan Parida all from BJD representing Odisha in the Rajya Sabha will be retiring on July 1, this year.

While the ECI will issue notification for the polls on May 24, the last date for making nominations has been fixed for May 31.

Similarly, while the scrutiny of nominations will be held on June 1, the last date for withdrawal of candidatures has been fixed for June 3.

The press note said the polling will take place between 9 AM to 4 PM on June 11 and counting of votes will take place on the same day at 5 PM adding that elections shall be completed by June 13.
