Koida (Sundargarh): In a tragic incident, three members of a family were killed in a road mishap while they were returning from a wedding party here in Odisha's Sundargarh district.

The deceased persons included two children and their minor sister.

According to reports, former Koida Sarpanch Sandhyarani Nayak and her family had been to Saras in Keonjhar district to attend a wedding function yesterday. On their way back late on Tuesday night, a Hyva truck hit their SUV at Rengalbeda on National Highway 215, just 5 km away from Koida.

While two babies and a minor girl died on the spot, the deceased children's mother Shantilata and ex-sarpanch sustained critical injuries. The victims were shifted to Rourkela Government Hospital from Koida CHC for treatment.
