Dhenkanal: The Dhenkanal district administration today dismissed two teachers and a Matron in connection with the pregnancy of a Class 8 girl of a residential school in Sadar block of the district.

Sources said the district administration sacked two teachers- Sanghamitra Subhalaxmi and Jogamaya Gadnayak, and Matron Smrutirekha Sethy of a residential school at Saptasajya finding them guilty in the incident.

Meanwhile, police investigation is on into the incident, sources said.

On January 18, the Headmaster the school Janardan Samal had lodged a complaint at Sadar police station alleging that a Class-8 girl student of the school was found pregnant.

The girl, who had gone to her relative's house for a vacation a few months ago, was not keeping well of late. After she returned to the hostel, her health condition deteriorated. During a medical check-up, it was found that she was pregnant, following which the headmaster filed the police complaint.
