Bhadrak, Apr 25:

In yet another incident exposing the deteriorated health services in Odisha, three pregnant women had to deliver their babies under torch light at Agarpada community health centre (CHC) in Banta block of Bhadrak district late last night.

More shockingly, two nurses, assisted by a woman sweeper and attendant, performed the deliveries as no doctors were present in the CHC at that time, sources said.

According to reports, there was no power supply in the area since evening and the electric generator of the hospital was defunct for which two women delivered babies at the CHC with the help of inverter light.

After the charge of the inverter drained out completely, the CHC was engulfed with darkness.

Late night, three pregnant women complained of labour pain following which the nurses decided to perform the deliveries as there were no gynecologists at the hospital.
