3 workers severely injured in industrial mishap in Odisha

Rourkela, May 27:

At least three workers were seriously injured in a blast at a sponge iron unit in Odisha’s Rourkela today.

Reports said the workers were injured in an explosion at Mahaveer Ferro Alloys Sponge Iron factory in Kalunga area.

The injured workers identified as Mahesh Dube, Sanika Tirkey and William Dung Dung have been shifted to the ICU of the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) here.

The mishap took place while the workers were on duty. Preliminary reports suggest that the explosion could have occurred due to high electric voltage.

Tension prevailed at the factory following the accident.

Police from Brahmani Tarang police station have rushed to the spot and are investigating the matter.
