Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police caught as many as 33 drunk drivers in the State Capital during a massive drive carried out in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night, an official source said today.

Taking to its ‘X’ handle, the Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar wrote, “Under the Safe City drive led by Commissionerate Police, 33 drunk drivers were caught in Bhubaneswar last night. The crackdown involved DCP Traffic Sri PK Rout and ACP Traffic Sri Jayant Kumar Dora. Let's prioritize safety on the roads! #DriveSafe #ZeroTolerance.”

Acting on the direction of Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh, a massive drive against drunken driving is going on in different areas such as Cuttack Road, Nandankanan Road, Janpath, Lewis Road, Khandagiri Road, with officers and staff of the police stations concerned.

“Enforcement is being carried out in the city under the ‘Safe City Drive’ initiative. Thirty-three persons were apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol and the drive to curb drunken driving activities will continue in the days ahead. Such people pose a threat to safe driving,” a senior cop stated.
