34 school students fall ill in Odisha after taking midday meals

Kendrapara, Nov 16:

As many as 34 students of Arteswar Primary School in Jagannathpur under Derabish block in Odisha’s Kendrapara district fell ill after taking their mid-day meals today.

As per reports, a caterpillar was found in the meal of one student while students were having their midday at the school today.

After the matter came to the notice of the school authorities, the serving of midday meals was stopped and students were sent back to their homes.

But by the time it was detected, several students had already had their midday meals.

These students on reaching their homes complained of severe itching in their mouths and bodies. Some even complained of vomiting.

On school authorities coming to know about the development rushed the sick children to the nearby hospital using 108 ambulance service.

The condition of the students who were admitted to the hospital was stated to be stable at the time of filing of this report.
