35-foot whale found dead on Odisha beach

Puri : Locals as well as visitors at the Astarang beach in Puri district were taken aback after finding the carcass of a 35-foot-long whale on the seashore this morning.

Some locals first spotted the carcass of the huge mammal on the beach at Gundalaba village in Astaranaga and raised an alarm. On getting information, wildlife officials reached the spot to take stock. Later, they recovered the dead marine species.

Though the exact cause behind the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the whale died after getting hit by a trawler.
