35 injured as bus overturns at Taptapani ghat in Odisha’s Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: At least 35 people were injured, including six critically, after a bus overturned in Taptapani ghat area of Odisha’s Ganjam district today.

The incident took place while around 60 people from Dasarathpur panchayat in Jajpur district were returning home in a private bus, Rizwani (No.OR-22E-3999), after visiting Jirang in Gajapati district in the afternoon.

“The bus overturned at Taptapani ghat after the driver lost control over the vehicle. At least 35 passengers, including many women and children, were injured in the mishap” said a local.

On being informed, policemen from Mohana and Patapur along with Fire Brigade personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured passengers.

The injured passengers were immediately rushed to a hospital at Digapahandi. Six of them were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after their condition deteriorated, sources said.
