3,740 Bangladeshis have infiltrated into Odisha: Minister

Bhubaneswar: Total 3,740 Bangladeshis have infiltrated into Odisha, informed  Minister of State (MoS) Home Tusharkanti Behera in the state Assembly here today.

Replying to a question raised by senior Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Minister said the infiltrated Bangladeshis are residing in Bargarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts. Many of them are also staying in different parts of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD).

However, he did not share data on the exact figures of the foreign national residing in each district.

Behera further stated that the Home Ministry has directed the state Government to identify these foreign nationals on numerous occasions.

“Deportation notice was issued against 1,711 Bangladeshis, of which only 21 have been deported,” the Minister added.
