Local police today arrested four persons for allegedly ransacking ward and misbehaving with the post graduate medical students of VSS Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) here late on Saturday night after the death of a patient.

Angry relatives and attendants of a patient who died after being admitted to the government-run hospital allegedly ransacked the Casualty ward of VIMSAR and manhandled with the doctors on duty on Saturday, alleging medical negligence.

After the incident, PG student doctors of the hospital went on a strike demanding arrest of the miscreants involved in the attack and threatened to quit Casualty duty if their demands are not met.

The PG students are demanding arrest of the main culprit and are slated to gherao the local police station later in the day.
