4 dead, 2 more critically injured in separate road accidents in Odisha

Bhadrak/Talcher: As many as four persons were killed and two others sustained grievous injuries in two separate incidents of road mishap which took place in Bhadrak and Angul districts, today.

The first incident was reported in the afternoon from near a private college at Ranital locality on NH-16 under the Rural police limits of Bhadrak. Two youths were killed and one more was injured after an SUV in which they were travelling had a puncture on its front tyre leading to the fatal road mishap.

Identities of the two deceased persons have not been ascertained yet, a police official said.

The ill-fated vehicle (bearing registration number WB-38 AS-2696) was on its way from neighbouring West Bengal to Bhubaneswar when it rammed into a truck from behind and met with an accident.

However, the truck driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle soon after the mishap.

Two boarders died on the spot and the third person is undergoing treatment in Bhadrak district headquarters hospital (DHH).

Earlier in the day, a man and his son were killed on the spot and his nephew became severely injured in the road accident that took place near Godibandha of Talcher locality.

The man was identified as Mohammed Asif and his three-year-old kid as Mohammed Asbar and his nephew as Mohammed Kshirodlal. The trio was returning back home in Godibandha from a nearby market after shopping for some essential items. They were travelling on a motorcycle and the vehicle was hit by a speeding truck from behind near Bankadhara Chhak, an eyewitness stated.

Some locals rescued the injured and sent him to a nearby hospital for treatment in critical condition, the eyewitness added.

Police have registered separate U/d cases in connection with the mishaps and launched probes.
