4 fake candidates arrested during recruitment exam at NIT in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Rourkela: Four persons were arrested today for illegally appearing in a recruitment examination being held yesterday for the posts of assistant registrar and junior assistant at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela of Sundargarh district, in place of the actual candidates.

The arrested were identified as Gourav Chauhan, Puneet Singh, Manish Kumar and Sunil Kumar. The fake candidates hail from Hisar and Jind districts of Haryana, a senior police official said.

According to the police source, the four accused youths had succeeded in entering the exam hall by producing fake Admit Cards. However, they were suspected by the invigilator during verification.

Acting on an FIR lodged by the NIT authorities, a team of policemen from Sector-3 station reached the educational institution and launched a probe. During the investigation, it was ascertained that the accused youths possessed fake Admit Cards.

Police have seized mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and fabricated Admit Cards from their possession. “The arrested will be forwarded to court later in the day. A detailed probe into the case is underway,” Sector-3 PS IIC Pushpanjali Ningi said while briefing mediapersons.
