Khordha/Balasore/Puri: As many as four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Odisha today.
A collision between an SUV and car on NH-16 near Khordha district Collector's office claimed lives of two persons.
The deceased were identified as Akhtar Hussain (40), a resident of Mukundaprasad in Khordha, and his friend Ayub Khan (43), hailing from Maharashtra.
According to reports, a speeding truck hit the car in which the two were travelling following which it dashed into road divider and overturned. An SUV then hit the ill-fated car from rear killing the duo.
In another incident, driver of a sand-laden dumper died after the vehicle turned turtle on NH-16 near Sadar police station in Balasore district.
The deceased was identified as Basu Jena, hailing from Khamatana village in the district.
Similarly, a person lost his life after a tipper hit him at Baku village under Gadisagada police limits in Puri district.
On being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and detained the driver of the vehicle.
