44 specially-abled Odisha kids embark on ‘dream flight’

Bhubaneswar: A dream to fly high came true for Divyang children from Odisha as they experienced this joy in a special flight today.

Total 44 specially-abled children including 20 girls will board a special Alliance Air flight from Bhubaneswar in the morning. The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) made special arrangements to carry them along to airport in two buses.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation had tweeted it mentioning, “Wings to the dreams of Divyang children! 44 Divyang children from across Odisha will experience the joy of flying high aboard a special flight from Bhubaneswar on 22nd Jan. Commendations to Airports Authority of India (AAI), Air India, Alliance Air, Odisha Government and Swabhiman for making this happen.”

The special flight took off from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) at 9.00 am and returned after a 40-minute tour.

The joy of flying high aboard a plane likely to boost their confidence and widen their exposure.

This is for the first time that the underprivileged children experienced plane ride.

The Joint Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation Usha Padhee has extended her gratitude to AAI for waiving all charges for the special flight.

Worth mentioning, Alliance Air is a regional airline and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India. Swabhiman is a State-level organisation working towards empowering persons with disabilities.
