45-YO Odisha man rapes minor girl after luring her with chocolates

Rourkela: Shocking! At a time when curbing the spread of deadly coronavirus has apparently become the only cause of concern for every stakeholder in the state, a 45-year-old man allegedly raped a minor girl at Madhusudanpali  here.

The Plant Site police have arrested the accused identified as Ramesh Das here today for his alleged complicity in the case.

Sources said Ramesh was staying alone in the rented house as his family is stuck in village due to the lockdown. Taking advantage of the situation, the married man lured a 10-year-old girl from the neighborhood with chocolates and raped her.

Later, the girl went back to her house and narrated the ordeal to her family members, who lodged a complaint with Plant Site police station last night. The cops swung into action and launched an investigation leading to arrest of the accused this morning. He was produced before the local court. A case under Section 376 AB of IPC and  Section 6 of POCSO Act has been registered in this connection.
