Bhubaneswar: As many as  456 more persons in the state tested positive for deadly coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the total count to 9526, said Health and Family Welfare Department today.

While 309 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres, 147 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the department.

The fresh cases have been reported from 24 districts: Angul (1), Balasore (14), Bargarh (33), Bhadrak (12), Balangir (6), Cuttack (13), Dhenkanal (1), Gajapati (1) Ganjam (166),  Jagatsingpur (23), Jajpur (57), Kalahandi (1), Kandhamal (3), Kendrapada (5), Keonjhar (2), Khordha (21),  Koraput (10), Mayurbhanj (8) Nabarangapur (24), Nayagarh (4), Puri (3), Rayagada (13), Sambalpur (15) and Sundargarh (20).

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 3254. While 6224 patients have recovered in the state so far, 38 succumbed to the virus.

In the last 24 hours, 4827 COVID-19 samples were tested. So far 2,97, 234 tests have been conducted in the state.
