48-year-old COVID patient receives first plasma therapy in Odisha

Cuttack: A 48-year-old critically-ill COVID-19 patient has received the first plasma therapy in Odisha at Ashwini COVID Hospital here, informed Jayant Panda, state government’s technical adviser on COVID-19.

One unit of B+ plasma was transfused to the patient. As many as four COVID-19 recovered persons including a doctor had donated plasma of different blood groups at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had yesterday inaugurated the COVID Plasma Bank at SCB Medical College and Hospital. Odisha is the third state in the country after Delhi and Maharastra to launch Plasma Bank

While SCB Medical College is the nodal agency for Plasma Therapy, SUM Hospital, KIIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar and Aswini Hospital in Cuttack will provide Plasma Therapy treatment.
