5 killed as car hits truck in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: In a tragic incident, as many as five persons were killed as the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck on NH-149 near Kantiapasi under Khamar police limits in Odisha’s Angul district, last night.

The deceased have been identified as Goura Chandra Sahu, Dilip Sahu, Bapun Sahu, Ranu Sahu and Pinu Sahu. They hailed from Injidi village in the district.

According to reports, the accident took place around midnight when the driver of the ill-fated vehicle lost control over the wheels, following which it hit the truck from rear killing the five occupants of the car on the spot.

The victims were heading towards their village from Pallahara. The car was severely mangled under the impact of the collision.

The deceased were supporters of a Sarpanch candidate and had gone to Pallahara on the final day of counting of votes.

Police have seized the two vehicles and started an investigation.
