During Diwali, the atmosphere envelope around India gets extra doses of poisonous gases like sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, cadmium and manganese, which are troublesome for Asthma, Bronchitis and other pulmonary patients. It also adds to the rising air pollution levels.

Dogs— in the house or on the streets are scared of firecrackers. Similarly, the noises of crackers irk birds. Often kids throw a burning cracker on these pets as a prank. Many also die due to shock. Diwali, definitely is not a joyous occasion for them.

Diwali mornings always echo with booms and bangs of bombs and rockets. It might be an alarm bell for the celebrations to begin, but it also does not fail to vex babies, the elderly and pregnant women in the household. Wailing infants and whiny family members can definitely put a wet blanket on the joys of celebrating this festival of lights.

Come Diwali and newspapers are filled with stories of accidents in cracker-making factories. Houses catch fire and hospitals get cracker casualties and burn injury patients during the 5-day Diwali. Burnol, ice packs and bandages do extra time.
