5-YO girl ‘raped’ by minor neighbour in Odisha village

Phulbani: A 5-year-old girl of Dugudipari village under G Udayagiri police limits of Kandhamal district was allegedly raped by a minor boy living in her neighbourhood.

A case in this regard has been registered with the G Udayagiri police of the district.

As per the complaint, the girl was playing alone in front of her house in the afternoon of July 3, when the accused managed to take her to his house before raping her. The girl, crying in pain, later rushed to her house and narrated her plight before her parents.

After the girl’s parents brought the matter before the neighbours, a village meeting was held but to no avail. In fact, family of the accused allegedly threatened the survivor’s family of dire consequences.

Today, the girl’s father lodged a written complaint with police seeking justice. Acting on the complaint, G Udayagiri Police Station IIC Rebati Sabar registered a case under Sections 376 AB, 506 and  34  of IPC and Section 6 of POCSO Act and began a probe. The accused minor has been detained for interrogation.

Meanwhile, both the girl and the accused boy were taken to a hospital here for a medical examination.
