50 Maoist militias surrender before Odisha police

Malkangiri:  Shunning violence, as many 50 Maoist militias today surrendered before Odisha DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal during the latter’s visit to Malkangiri district today.

Source said 50 militias, including two women surrendered before the DGP at the BSF camp at Jantri in Swabhiman Anchala of the district today. On the occasion, the DGP called upon Maoists to shun the path of violence and join the mainstream.

Earlier in the day, the senor cop arrived at the BSF camp to inspect security arrangements. He was accompanied by Intelligence Director Sanjeev Panda, IG (Operations) Amitabh Thakur and DIG (south-west range) Rajesh Pandit.

On the occasion, the DGP held a crucial meeting with the BSF and police personnel to crackdown on Maoists.

On the sidelines, the senior cop inaugurated a new building of Mathili police station.
