50 students fall ill after having dinner at girls hostel in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: As many as 50 inmates of Kasturba Gandhi Girls Hostel in Lamtaput area of Odisha’s Koraput district fell sick after having dinner, last night.

As per reports, the girl students complained of diarrhoea, vomiting and stomachache after consuming the food at around 9 pm.

On being informed, a team of five doctors from the Lamtaput Community Health Center reached the hostel to treat the girls. Later, the students were admitted to the healthcare facility for better treatment.

While 40 students were discharged from the hospital after improvement in their condition, ten students were undergoing treatment as their condition was critical.

It is being suspected that the students fell ill due to food poisoning.

A team of doctors from Koraput will visit the hostel today to collect the food sample for examination.
