Bhubaneswar: Odisha government decided today to establish 55 more Trauma Care Facilities along national highways in the State apart from the 33 facilities existing at present.

Taking to its Twitter handle, the Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) department wrote, “This would strengthen the Emergency Medical Care and reduce the fatality rate due to road accidents. It is further informed that Government has empanelled 18 corporate hospitals for providing cashless treatment to trauma victims due to road accident in last 48 hours. #OdishaCares.”

An official source said that the government is keen to reduce ‘loss of life’ caused due to road accidents in the State by strengthening the Emergency Medical Care (Trauma Care). For further strengthening, Government has empanelled 18 corporate hospitals with level 1 Trauma Care Facility in the State for providing cashless treatment to trauma victims of road accidents in the first 48 hours.

“Consequent upon the direction of Hon’ble Supreme Court passed on 30.11.2017 in WPC No. 295 of 2012, one Trauma Care Facility has to be established in each District. Accordingly, 33 TCFs have been notified by Government vide No.26301/H dated 26.10.2018. As per the operational guidelines on capacity building for developing trauma care facilities along National Highways issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, the preventable deaths because of road accidents are to be brought down to 10 per cent by developing a pan-India trauma care network in which no trauma victim has to be transported for more than 50 kilometres and a designated trauma centre is available at every 100 Km,” a notification of the H&FW department mentioned.

Notably, locations of the 55 proposed Trauma Care Facilities in Odisha include Pallahara, Khamar, Banarpal, Talcher, Chhendipada, RK Nagar, Soro, Padampur, Titilagarh, Purunakatak, Barkote, Kamakhyanagar, Bhuban, Mohana, R Udayagiri, Khallikote, Bhanjanagar, Aska, Badachana, Lakhanpur, Brajarajnagar, Kolabira, Kesinga, Koksara, Dharmagarh, Tumudibandha, Daringibadi, Tikabali, Champua, Ghatagaon, Anandapur, Chandpur, Balugaon, Bolagada, Kunduli, Kotapad, Laxmipur, Mathili, Kalimela, Bangiriposhi, Jashipur, Karanjia, Betanoti, Dasapalla, Khariar, Komna, Pipili, Padmapur, Kuchinda, Fasimal, Naktideul, Dunguripali, Lahunipada, Kutra, Koida.
