570 fresh COVID-19 cases detected in Odisha; tally crosses 12,000-mark

Bhubaneswar: Odisha ‘s COVID-19 tally crossed 12000-mark after 570 people in the state tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. The state’s tally now stands at 12,526, informed the Government.

While 384 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres, remaining 186 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The cases have been reported from 19 districts: highest from Ganjam (218),  Angul (11), Balasore (3), Bhadrak (2), Boudh (3), Cuttack (46), Gajapati (25), Jagatsinghpur (16), Jajpur (40), Jharsuguda (31), Kendrapada (6), Keonjhar (14), Khordha (37), Koraput (11), Mayurbhanj (10), Nayagarh (37), Puri (15), Sambalpur (1) and Sundargarh (44). 

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 4475. While 7972 patients have recovered in the state so far, 56 succumbed to the virus.

In the last 24 hours, 5845 COVID-19 samples were tested. So far 3,27, 288 tests have been conducted in the state.
