591 new Corona cases detected in Odisha; tally mounts to 16,701

Bhubaneswar: As many as 591 more persons tested positive for deadly Coronavirus in Odisha taking the state’s total count to 16,701.

While 394 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres, remaining 197 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The fresh cases have been reported from 25 districts: highest from Ganjam (182) followed by  Khordha (121), Angul (1), Balasore (13), Baragarh (35), Bhadrak (3), Balangir (9), Boudh (5), Cuttack (38), Deogarh (3), Dhenkanal (9), Jagatsinghpur (22), Jajpur (19), Jharsuguda (5), Kendrapada (8), Keonjhar (6), Koraput (4), Malkangiri (8), Mayurbhanj (22), Nabarangpur (22), Nayagarh (11), Puri (6), Rayagada (1), Sambalpur (20), and Sundargarh (18).

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 5259. However, 11,330 patients have recovered in the state so far.

In the last 24 hours, 8155 swab samples were tested. So far 3,77,893 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state.
