5T travesty! High School ceiling plaster falls off in Odisha’s Puri; CRC, 2 teachers injured

Astaranga: A large chunk of ceiling plaster fell off today at the high school in Astaranga village of Puri, which was previously transformed under the Odisha Government’s 5T Initiative. A Cluster Resource Center Coordinator (CRCC) and two teachers of the educational institution were injured in the incident.

The fatal mishap was reported from Padhiari Vidyapitha of Talada panchayat in the district.

A source said that a female teacher identified as Priyadarshini Senapati sustained grievous injuries as a chunk of the plaster fell on her head. The incident occurred when a meeting was underway in the office room of the school. The CRCC Trilochan Behera was also injured but a staffer had minor injuries.

Following the incident, the injured were rushed to a health facility in Balikuda for treatment. Senapati was later shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar for further treatment, the source added.

“The incident occurred when a meeting between the School and Mass Education (S&ME) department higher-ups and school teachers was going on. The injured teacher Priyadarshini Senapati is undergoing treatment in Balikuda hospital,” informed the headmaster of Padhiari Vidyapitha.
