6 of family injured in LPG cylinder blast in Odisha

At least six persons of a family sustained serious burn injuries when a cooking gas cylinder exploded after catching fire in Upara Dumuka village under Tihidi police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district this morning.

Reports said the accident occurred at Narayan Nayak’s house in Upara Dumuka village under Tihidi police limits as two women of the house were preparing tea on a gas stove and children were sitting in-front of the stove.

The LPG cylinder suddenly caught fire and burst within no time, eyewitnesses said.

Though inmates of the house were able to save their lives by managing to rush out of the house, they sustained serious burn injuries due to the sudden blaze that followed after the explosion.

Two houses were gutted in the fire caused by the gas cylinder explosion. The injured were initially shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Bhadrak.

As the condition of four of them worsened, they were shifted to  SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, reports added.
