6-year-old Royal Bengal Tigress dies at Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar: In a bad news for big cat lovers, a six-year-old Royal Bengal tigress died while undergoing treatment at Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoological Park today. Despite the efforts of Veterinary Doctors at Nandankanan Zoo along with experts from OUAT, life of the Royal Bengal Tigress, Anini could not be saved, said an official of the zoo.

The Royal Bengal Tigress had been ill for past one month and had stopped taking foods.

Anini and three other cubs were born to Royal Bengal Tiger, ‘Manish’ and White tigress Snhea in the zoo on July 28, 2014.

Earlier, Royal Bengal Tigers ‘Manish’ and ‘Subhranshu’ died on September 2, 2018 and August 5, 2016 due to blood protozoan disease at Nandankanan zoo respectively.

Currently, a total of 13 Royal Bengal Tigers, eight white tigers and three black tigers are present in the zoo.
