60-year-old woman raped in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: In a heinous incident, a 60-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an unidentified youth in Buxi Bazar Pension Lane area in the Silver City here.

Though the incident occurred two days ago, a complaint in this regard was lodged with the Mahila Police Station today, sources said.

The incident took place when the elderly woman was alone in her house, said the complaint.

“An unidentified youth, having a ponytail, attacked the old woman and raped her while she was alone in her house. As she is staying alone, I have registered a police complaint on her behalf. This is a shameful incident. I hope that the police will soon identify the accused and take stern action against him,” said local corporator A. Sridevi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pinak Mishra said they have registered a case in this regard and conducted medical examination of the victim.

“Senior police officials have visited the spot. We are now examining the CCTV footage collected from the locality. We will soon identify the accused and arrest him,” added the DCP.
