600 disband Cong, join Odisha’s ruling BJD

In a major setback to the Congress in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, 600 Congress workers including the former zilla parishad member from Aul Dhan Ranjan Bose today joined the BJD in presence of party supremo Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas here.

“Joining of Congress workers in BJD would certainly strengthen the party’s base and will be of help to the party in the forthcoming panchayat elections,” said senior BJD leader and former MLA from Aul Pratap Keshari Deb.

Notably, Deb had lost to Devendra Sharma of Congress in the 2014 polls to the Aul Assembly constituency.
