64-YO Odisha farmer raises awareness on COVID-19 in unique way

Sundergarh: With an intention to contribute his part to the united battle against coronavirus, a 64-year-old man of Sarasmal village under Hemgir block in Sundergarh district has set out to create awareness on the global pandemic his own way.  

Harshachandra Nayak, a farmer by profession and a folk singer by passion, is now sensitizing the locals about the need of proper hand washing, wearing of masks and social distancing to keep the virus at bay through his folk songs.Besides composing, the elderly man can be seen crooning the songs with his own tunes on village streets. 

Holding a folk musical instrument, he steps out every morning and move from village to village singing his own tracks to make people aware of various precautionary measures of COVID-19. He also advises people to obey the Government’s instruction and stay indoors during the lockdown.    

His unique approach of spreading awareness about the deadly virus has received immense appreciations from people in the region. Besides, he is also being called as ‘Corona Warrior’ by the locals.
